Governance & responsibility
Lone Working Policy
Demonstration content covering the assessment, monitoring and escalation of lone-working risks.
Purpose and commitment
No lone worker should operate without defined support.
The company aims to assess when people work without close or direct supervision and provide proportionate communication, welfare, check-in and emergency arrangements.
The policy should cover mobile response officers, patrol drivers, static personnel, office staff, remote workers and anyone travelling or attending incidents alone.
Responsibilities
Clear ownership and escalation.
Managers should approve lone-working arrangements and supervisors or control personnel should monitor agreed check-ins. Lone workers must follow instructions, maintain communication and withdraw when risks cannot be controlled.
Reporting and review
Concerns must be acted upon.
Missed check-ins, loss of contact, threats, violence, medical emergencies or unsafe conditions should trigger the defined escalation process without avoidable delay.
Review dates, document ownership and the approved full policy should be confirmed before publication.
This page provides draft website content and is not a substitute for the company’s approved controlled policy. Replace or approve the wording before launch.
